Keropok Sri Kolam Ibai is merely new in its name. The brand was actually created almost 30 years ago when Pak Bakar and his wife Che Da Som started to make and sell keropok lekor ( fish sausages ) and keropok keping ( fish krakers ) just in front of their house. It was a family business in the beginning when almost every body having close relationship with the couple came and lend their hands to the business. That is one of the reason why the business was not expanding, though many years had been in that business. The couple has to contribute to those helping them and in the end of the day, not so much profit is gained.
Later on, the business was registered with the Registrar of Business in Kuala Terengganu to enable the business to expand. The business was registered under the name of the eldest daughter of the couple named...Kartini...my second cousin. Everything was going on nicely and in order when the business slowly expanded and started making its name.
Suddenly, the relationship between the family erupts for reasons not known to the public. The big and strong family has broken, resulting the couple and its family have to evacuate. They have to move out because the bigger part of the families were against them. God knows what was the actual reason for the break down. To me, it was one of the saddest moment in my life because they all are very much related to me...when we grew up and made fortune together.
Now, I need to help them in promoting the business just to ensure it will go on. The business had been brought to new location, with better surrounding and new prospects. Its name must be promoted, not only to expand the business but also to protect the taste and the brand that they have. Their products have its own specialties and good qualities, suffice to be introduced to the public in this region and perhaps up to the international level.
